The European Climate Initiative (EUKI) is a funding programme that supports climate action projects in Europe. It strengthens cooperation between governments, local authorities, civil society, academia and the business sector with the aim of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
Under the motto ‘Doubling Down on Climate Action’, the sixth EUKI Network Conference (#EUKICON26) brought together around 190 participants from across Europe on 19–20 May 2026 at the EUREF Campus in Berlin. Experts from the worlds of politics and practice discussed climate action in a geopolitically challenging world, synergies between climate targets and competitiveness, and pathways to a resilient and sovereign transition. Eight workshops covered topics including methane emissions, effective climate communication and carbon capture and storage; project examples provided concrete evidence of how #EUKI works.
EUKI is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) and is implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
