On 24 March 2026, stakeholders from politics, civil society and academia, as well as people with lived experience, came together for the 3rd Annual Congress of the National Forum Against Homelessness. The annual event served as a platform for exchanging experiences and evaluating the National Action Plan (NAP), through which the Federal Government aims to eradicate homelessness in Germany by 2030. In addition to the progress made under the Action Plan, the focus was primarily on the lived experiences of those affected, political decisions and international perspectives.
In specialist forums, participants explored specific topics in greater depth, such as the current data situation, preventive measures and the provision of housing, supplemented by a transnational exchange with representatives from Japan, France and UN-Habitat. The event emphasised that tackling this challenge sustainably remains a task requiring the collective effort of society as a whole, which can only be achieved through an improved data base and consistent action by all stakeholders.
