In 2023 and 2024, a series of analyses was carried out with 12 local governments in the German States of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg to assess their level of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The assessments were part of the ‘Global Sustainable Municipality’ project of the Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW) of Engagement Global (EG) with funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The analyses were based on meetings, workshops and document evaluation, to answer the question: ‘What contribution do municipalities make to the implementation of sustainable development and the Global Sustainability Goals?’
